Anti-Vaping Poster, Poetry Contest In Chatham, Madison
The Madison Chatham Coalition and the Library of the Chathams is taking submissions from Dec. 13 through Jan. 10.

CHATHAM, NJ - Visual and literary expressions on the subject of underage marijuana use and vaping are the subject of a contest being held by the Library of the Chatham and the Madison Chatham Coalition.
The contest, running Dec. 13 through Jan. 10, is a poster and poetry contest focused on the dangers associated with underage marijuana and vaping use.
2018 Poster and Poetry Contest Guidelines:

- Poster entries (art or poetry) must address underage marijuana and vaping use.
- Participants must use facts on underage marijuana and vaping use from the Madison Chatham Coalition (MCC) website or MCC print materials available at the Library or the MCC office at the Madison YMCA.
- Eligibility is open to fourth grade students through adult residents of Chatham Township and Chatham Borough.
- Each poster shall be the original concept, layout, visual image, poem and slogan of the participant. One entry is allowed per person.
- Posters should be no more than 19 by 24 inches in size and mounted on sturdy cardboard. If pastels, chalk, charcoal or other sensitive media are used, the poster must be covered with clear plastic.
- The official entry form should be attached to the back of the poster. Numbers will be assigned to each poster/entry to enable blind judging.
- Participants may submit their entries during regular library hours from Thursday, Dec. 13 through Thursday, Jan. 10. Please bring them to the front desk only. They will be displayed as they come in on a weekly basis.
- Public judging will take place from January 11 to January 18. Judging forms will be available at this time. Public judging is open to all. The entries will be judged on three criteria:
- How clearly is the theme/topic presented?
- How well do the visuals or words (poem) convey the message?
- How effective was the poster in capturing your attention and causing you to reflect on the topic?
All entries will be displayed in the Library’s Lundt Room through Jan. 31.
First prize and honorable mention will be awarded as follows:

- Fourth/Fifth Grade
- Middle School (6,7,8)
- High School
- Adult 18-49
- Adult 50 and over
All First Prize winners will win a shopper bag with the image of their entry. Honorable Mention winners will receive ribbons. Certificates will be given to all participants.
