IN SHORT
The Cougars had four different players on the mound but could not get a brake as the Millers had all of the hops go their way and pounded the ball past Chatham’s defense. While the Cougars had strong swings theirs balls could not evade the gloves of Millburn.
COUGAR OF THE GAME
Gregg Bazzani—seven innings at first base, 2-3 with a double, single, and walk and one run scored.
“He’s been swinging a hot bat for us,” said head coach Bryan Hedgecock of Bazzani. The first baseman was a consistent threat at the plate and on the bases scoring the Cougar’s first run with head’s up base running on a missed pick-off.
OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
John Byrnes (Chatham) – Byrnes made a catch in centerfield on the warning track to rob Anthony DelGreco, then gunned down Millburn’s Dan Frischman for a double play.
THEY SAID IT
"They hit the ball where we weren’t and we hit the ball right at them. We played a hard fought game and the score doesn’t reflect it. We stayed in it the whole game"–Head Coach Bryan Hedgecock
Up Next— Dover High School at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Chatham.
