IN SHORT
The Cougar infield played flawless defensively, led by its long-stretching first baseman Kelly Winans. Heads-up base running helped the Cougars capture runs on wild pitches, which ultimately put them on top of a hard-hitting Parsippany Hills team.
COUGAR OF THE GAME
Cara Delsandro—The catcher went 1-for-3 with a double.
With the game tied at 2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Delsandro hit a clutch double down the third base line to move Amanda Fazio over to third. Fazio eventually scored on a wild pitch. Delsandro then scored the Cougars’ final run on another wild pitch.
OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Amanda Fazio (Chatham), pitched six innings and recorded six strikeouts; Cara McNeil (Parsippany Hills), went 1-for-3 with a home run; Kylie Taylor (Parsippany Hills), went 1-for-3 with a home run.
THEY SAID IT
"If we can get a runner on [base], we are pretty good at moving them around. We should get a lot better as we play more games and get more experience. It’s going to take some time be we will get there."–Head coach Alexis Davies
