BMW Stolen Out Of Chatham Driveway

CHATHAM, NJ — An unlocked BMW was stolen out of a Chatham Borough driveway early Thursday morning, Borough police said.

A Borough man told police he was woken up at 6:45 a.m. to the sound of his car starting. He looked out the window to see the car speeding away. The car had been left unlocked with the key fob inside.

The man also told police he'd noticed an Audi and Maserati speeding towards Route 24.

There has been a rash of luxury cars stolen in New Jersey recently. An unlocked Porsche was stolen in Warren on Sunday and a total of seven cars were also stolen recently in Monmouth County. An armed carjacking took place in Clark early Wednesday morning.

Detective Bureau at 973-635- 8000. Borough police remind residents to remove fobs and valuables from cars, and to always lock them.
