Borough Democrats’ Hard Work Shows Their Potential as Leaders

At the Chatham Borough Candidates Forum earlier this month there was broad agreement among the candidates on issues and policies in our community. But important differences between the candidates did show through, especially the amount of time, effort and thought that they are prepared to put into their work if elected.

The Democratic candidates for Council, Karen Koronkiewicz, and Irene Treloar, demonstrated a strong command of issues and had many thoughtful ideas about how to address them. Any viewer could tell that they invested a great deal of time and effort getting to understand the Borough’s operations and familiarizing themselves with the issues that our residents care about. Beyond that, they developed plans for tackling these issues.

Mayoral candidate Thad Kobylarz demonstrated that he has spent his time on Borough Council gaining a broad understanding of Chatham’s big challenges and working to address them. His focus has not only been on economic development, but also on quality of life issues like traffic, infrastructure, and amenities. Clearly, the entire Democratic team has been pounding the pavement, meeting with residents and listening to their concerns.

As a former Council member in Boonton and subsequently a long-time Chatham Borough Resident, I can attest that being on the governing body is a huge responsibility and is not to be taken lightly. I strongly believe that this team is up to the challenge and will work hard for all Borough residents.
