Chatham Resident Participates in Mary Kay Makeover Contest to Benefit Project Community Pride
Chatham resident & independent beauty consultant Emily LaJeunesse loves helping women create fresh looks. Now she's using her expertise to raise money for a local nonprofit, Project Community Pride.
Chatham resident Emily LaJeunesse has been an independent Mary Kay beauty consultant for five years and loves helping women find fresh looks with cosmetics and skin care products. Now she’s using her beauty consultation expertise to help raise money for a local nonprofit, Project Community Pride.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Mary Kay Cosmetics, a leading international seller of skin care products and cosmetics, is holding a beauty makeover contest called “One Woman Can” to highlight how one woman can make a difference in the world. Women who participate in a complimentary makeover with LaJeunesse are entered to win an international vacation and a $5,000 donation by the Mary Kay company to the charity of their choice. In addition, LaJeunesse has a chance to win the Mary Kay Consultant’s Contest and have an additional $5,000 donated to a charity of her choosing, the one caveat being that the selected charity must benefit women and children. LaJeunesse’s charity of choice is Project Community Pride.
Project Community Pride is a Madison-based nonprofit counseling center staffed by licensed therapists. The agency has served youths, teens and their families in Chatham, Madison and Florham Park for over 35 years. LaJeunesse, who is Vice President of the board of directors, has been involved with the agency for eight years.

She draws parallels between the Mary Kay contest and Project Pride’s work: “The dedicated counselors at Project Pride support our communities on a daily basis, helping kids, teens and their families who are struggling with any number of issues from bullying and suicide to divorce and depression. The Mary Kay company recognizes that nonprofit organizations can make a valuable difference in people’s lives, and every spring the company offers a way for its independent consultants to contribute to their communities by helping a local nonprofit.”
LaJeunesse has several group makeover sessions scheduled this month. Two special “Teachers’ Makeovers” are scheduled for local teachers on Thursday, April 4 at 4 p.m., and Thursday, April 18 at 4 p.m. at Project Community Pride’s offices at 28 Walnut Street in Madison. Other sessions are scheduled for local moms: Wednesday, April 10 at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., also at 28 Walnut Street. Makeovers are free and there is no obligation to make any purchases – the events are intended to be enjoyable and relaxing.
