Chatham Spring Clean 2013 a Great Success

Thank you to our volunteers and sponsors

On Saturday April 20, the rain held off and over 170 Chatham Borough volunteers of all ages turned out with rakes, shovels, buckets and work gloves to assist with the first ever Chatham Borough Spring Clean 2013.

Volunteers gave what time they could from  8 A.M. to  1:00 P.M.  to beautify the Chatham Borough downtown area, Stanley Park and Shepard Kellock trails while proudly wearing their Spring Clean 2013 T- shirts.  The Department of Public Works under the leadership of Bobby Venezia and his team of Leo, Pete and Vito were tremendous as they kept a steady stream of mulch available to keep the volunteers busy as they cleaned, weeded and spread mulch in our public areas and gardens.

Axlyn Ward of T.M. Ward generously provided complimentary coffee to all volunteers, who gladly accepted the offer of a warming cup on a cool morning.

The Kiwanis Club, Chatham Troop 8 Boy Scouts and the Environmental Commission put their energy into cleaning up Shepard Kellock trails and Stanley Park off of River Road.

A special thanks to Rich and Doris Crater who led the rejeuvenation of the Diversity Garden at the train station.
