Chatham Wrestling Alumnus Christian Colucci Places Third at Districts

195-pounder competing for St. Peter's Prep.

Last year, Christian Colucci advanced farther than any other wrestler in the history of Chatham Youth Wrestling by placing second in the New Jersey Youth Scholastic Championships under the tutelage of coaches John Nonnenmacher, Scot Ciccarelli and coaches at Olympic.

Following his tenure with the Chatham Youth Wrestling Club, Christian went on to wrestle for St. Peter's Prep. As a freshman, Christian has had a fantastic season which has culminated in a third-place finish at the districts and a near miss at at trip to Atlantic City to wrestle in the New Jersey state championships. Christian represented St. Peter's at the districts on Feb. 22, 24 and 25 at West Orange High School. After the tournament was over, Christian took third place at 195 pounds after losing in the semifinals to a wrestler ranked third in the state.

After advancing to regions, Christian had a strong showing by winning three matches (one by pin) and losing two. After winning three matches, Christian lost in the quarters 5-4 and in the consolation finals to a senior from Rutherford High School who was seeded second by the score of 5-4.
