Dan Miller: Working for You
Dan Miller is running for Chatham Township Committee. Two seats are open for this election. The primary is on June 4, 2013.

Dear Chatham Township residents,
I am running for one of the two available seats on the Chatham Township Committee. I wish to serve because I love Chatham Township, have lived here all my life, and am willing to do the hard work it takes to be a Committee member. My unique understanding of the Township and my background will bring balance to the committee and serve the residents of all areas of our diverse Township.
Some Background

Having served on the Township Planning Board for 2 years, and being a past treasurer and member of the Republican Committee for 12 years, I have a great understanding of how our Township Committee works. I am also a 4th generation Green Village Fire Department member.
After attending Chatham Township High School ( the Boro and Township had separate schools in 1980 ), I moved on to Elmira College. I have been a Supervisor for Morris County for the past 25 years. I also served as acting President, and Senior Vice President of Morris Council 6 for over 12 years. For the last 20 years I have regularly attended Township Committee meetings, and have been an advocate for the public on many issues. I know that my experience at all levels of government will benefit the Township, and this is why I wish to serve and work for our residents, from the youngest to the oldest.

Family is Most Important
My family ( the Hinds family ) has lived in Chatham Township for over 200 years.
I am married to Carol Ann, who is a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and we have two children, Daniel and Ryan.
My mother, Jeannette Hinds Miller still lives in the Township and continues to be active as well.
Myself and my family have been actively serving the community for many years, and continue to serve the Township today. I could not be more proud to be a member of the Miller / Hinds family.
MY COMMITMENT TO YOU
When elected I will bring a new face to the committee with fresh ideas. I will work
diligently to make our town one of the best to live in NJ, and the tri-state area. We have done well as a town but we can do better, utilizing availability to shared services. My 25 years of County experience and contacts will be a major asset in this area.
I have a strong commitment to the community, been active in Township governance for over 20 years, and a past Planning Board member, I know where problems are and have remedies to make processes simpler and easier. Jefferson stated " The true foundation of republican government is the equal right of every citizen, in his person and property." I believe in this.
I know my family history in the Township, (Hinds), is a valuable asset. I learned long ago you don't know where you are going, unless you know where you have been. I know where Chatham Township has been, understand the direction we need to go, and have a unique understanding, leading to balance between past and future. I will govern with Lincoln in mind, " government of the people, by the people, for the people".
