Senior Citizens Enjoy Chatham High's Free Dinner, Show

Chatham High School Theatre Department recently hosted a free dinner and show for local senior citizens thanks to the generous donations of eight Chatham restaurants.

Who doesn’t like a dinner and a show, especially when both are free? Well, that’s exactly what Chatham senior citizens were recently treated to thanks to a partnership between Chatham High School’s (CHS) Theatre Department and eight local Chatham restaurants. The seniors were invited to watch the Feb. 27 dress rehearsal performance for Legally Blonde – a sweet and funny musical about Elle Woods, a California blonde sorority girl whose boyfriend dumps her because of his political aspirations and she follows him to Harvard Law School.Immediately following the performance, the seniors enjoyed a delicious Italian meal consisting of chicken parmesan and baked ziti, which were generously donated by Arminio’s, Café Villa, D’Oro, Gregorio’s, Hickory Tree Pizza, Marie’s, Pascarella Brothers Deli and Zio Gino Pizza & Grill.Additionally, 20 CHS National Honor Society students baked desserts and waited tables for the senior guests. During the meal, CHS cast members also met and visited with the diners. The senior citizen dress rehearsal dinner has become a tasty tradition at the CHS Theatre Department – and this year’s musical was no exception.  Thanks to the gracious support of these eight local Chatham eateries, more than eighty seniors, as well as many members of the cast shared a wonderful meal together.
