Wouldn't it be fun if all the guys in the Chathams rocked feathers in their hair?
Over the last couple months, I have joined the throngs of people devoted to watching "American Idol" on TV. It’s like watching an abbreviated version of the Academy Awards twice a week.
The sets, lightshows, fashions, guest performances, musical coaches and competitors make for great entertainment. Maybe I’m just easily entertained, but even the commercials seem to be in the Super Bowl category of advertising.

Ryan Seacreast adds just the right balance of showmanship, drama and congeniality to the show. His fluency and polished mannerisms are engaging traits that command a $15 million salary as Idol’s host. Really?
There’s no disputing Idol’s judge Jennifer Lopez’s beauty. She glams it up each show with style and pizzazz. Her seductive fashions, perfectly coiffed hair, expertly applied makeup and coordinated accessories are flawlessly showcased to world. She appears to revel in the attention. Lopez’s advice to the singers is heady and believable.

Rocker Steven Tyler brings a disarming personality to the judge’s table. Those feathers in his hair are curious, but fun. He seems to flaunt his own style of blousy, manly glam. Tyler just appears to enjoy the music, and always seems to have a kind word for the singers.
Randy Jackson played with Journey? Who knew? “Yo, YO Dawg, YOU’RE IN IT TO WIN IT!” shouts Jackson enthusiastically after judging most performances. Although his tiresome rants can be a drop annoying, Jackson is a good cheerleader and generally provides useful commentary.
Haley is definitely the reality show’s drama queen. She is as cute as could be, with edgy fashion choices, diverse hairstyles, and great shoes. Her gold, sparkly eye shadow, and a speculated affair with Casey elevates her intrigue factor. She has a sassy attitude with the judges, which appears to be good for ratings.
Sweet young Lauren has an amazing voice, an innocent naivety and a hospitable southern allegiance, which will, in all likelihood, contribute to her successful career long after the season’s finale. She does have a maturity way beyond her 16 years, and is maybe the favorite to win.
The top ten Idol contestants were really good. Now that it’s down to the final three contestants, I can safely predict that “Scotty the Body” is really going to win the crown. The kid is just 17 years old, and his manly-man voice will probably catapult him into the Carrie Underwood country music fame category.
The feathers would not be a good look for him.
