Chatham Boys', Girls' Track Victorious Over Dover, Morris Catholic
Teams look ahead to important meet next week.
Both the boys' and girls' track teams achieved encouraging wins Wednesday against Dover and Morris Catholic.
The boys' defeated Dover 115-24 and beat Morris Catholic 130-8.5, while the girls' beat Dover 105.5-32.5 and defeated Morris Catholic 109-26. The wins, for members of the team, were a sign that the team is poised for success throughout this season.
"It's exciting because in previous years it's been kind of a struggle in dual meets," junior Katie Hurt said. "This year, we have a really deep team."

Chatham runners were in front in nearly all of Wednesday's races. In the 3200, Michael Kaiser ran away with the win, besting his previous personal record by nearly 25 seconds.
"It was one of my best races," Kaiser said afterward. "I did have a pretty good workout on Monday."

The race was peppered with Chatham wins.
Perennial star Kat Grimes won the girls' 1600 in 5:27.3 toward the beginning of the meet, and those wins didn't let up throughout.
Senior Sarah Wang won the 100 meter dash—a race in which she does not normally participate.
"That added a little fun to my day," she said with a smile.
Chatham boys' Head Coach Pat Barry said he was impressed with the effort, saying that he was "proud of the way our boys performed today."
He said the team has a tough meet to look forward to against Hanover Park and Pequannock on Wednesday at Cougar Field. The girls' team will also be competing against the same teams.
