Chatham Eagle Scout Builds Bus Stop Bench
Jake Simonetti of Troop 121 installed the bench at the corner of Buxton Road and Southern Boulevard.
CHATHAM, NJ - Jake Simonetti of Troop 121 installed the bench at the corner of Buxton Road and Southern Boulevard as part of his Eagle Scout Project.
According to his mother Gayle Simonetti, her son spoke to the men at Chatham Township Department of Public Works and asked them if there were any projects that needed to be completed that they may want him to complete for his Eagle Project.
The decision was made to create the bus stop bench and Simonetti began work by purchasing the wood, screws and glue from Dreyer's lumber and recruited help from the boy scouts of Troop 121.

The purpose of the bench is for the safety of the children at the bus stop Buxton Road and Southern Boulevard and the local pedestrians that travel up and down Southern Boulevard, according to Simonetti.
The space was leveled and stone was poured and the bench was installed with two planters.
"It is now on the corner for everyone to use and enjoy," Gayle Simonetti said.
