Chatham Mother, Infant Injured By Falling Tree Branch (Update)

CHATHAM, NJ - A tree branch fell on a 46-year-old Chatham woman and and her infant son Lincoln Avenue Friday afternoon, according to Chatham Borough Police Chief Brian Gibbons.

Both Harpreet Singhr and the six-month-old baby were taken to Morristown Medical Center by the Chatham Emergency Squad.

Gibbons said that Singhr was walking her six-month-old child in a stroller up Lincoln Avenue toward Orchard Road after church when the branch fell, first striking power lines, and then landing on the pair.

"The tree branch fell down and struck Mom and the carriage and both suffered injuries," Gibbons said.

Gibbons said the mother had serious, but not life-threatening injuries to head and shoulder and that while he was unaware of the status of the infant, both were alert and conscious before they were taken to the hospital.

According to JCP&L, the fallen branch caused a power outage to around 30 people in Chatham Borough.
