The Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township (PCCT) kicks off a new program year with its annual Rally Day celebration on Sunday, September 16th. Those seeking to connect with a faith community are invited to a 10 am church service featuring our youth and adult choirs. The Reverend Ed Halldorson, senior pastor, will begin a sermon series on David, one of the preeminent figures in the Hebrew Bible.
Worship will be followed by a picnic on the front lawn at 11 am, featuring a bouncy house, games and face painting to entertain the kids. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs will be available at 11:15 am. A Mission and Ministry Fair will highlight musical and educational programs as well as numerous rewarding service and fellowship opportunities. Rally Day is also the official launch of “Faith Forward,” a new weekly program following worship each Sunday that will incorporate service events, encourage adult learning and provide additional time to connect with one another.
“We created Faith Forward as a way to put our faith into action,” said The Reverend Tom Brown, Associate Pastor for Congregational Life. “While worship will always be the core of our common life, Faith Forward allows us to come together as a congregation to deepen our connections with each other, work together to serve our extended community and those in need, and learn about our faith and how others are living it out.”

Most weeks, Faith Forward will last about 45 minutes. Nursery care will be available for children up to age 4, and on select Sundays, separate activities will be offered to children through grade 5. Each week will focus on a different area of the life of the church – serve, connect or learn. The Fall schedule includes:
- September 16 – Rally Day – Welcome back celebration and start of Church School year
- September 23 – Weekend of Service – A hands-on service opportunity for the whole family
- September 30 – “A Refugee’s Story” – Guest speaker Duha Katbi shares her family’s experience fleeing Syria in pursuit of freedom
- October 7 – TED Talk “What I Learned from 100 Days of Rejection” featuring author and entrepreneur Jia Jiang.
