Chatham Student's Art In Congressional Competition

Willy Chan and Vincent Liu participated in the 2019 Congressional Art Competition.

CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham High School students Willy Chan and Vincent Liu participated in the 2019 Congressional Art Competition hosted at Montclair State University's George Segal Gallery last Friday.

This was the first year the art competition was coordinated by the office of U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill.

Liu's submission, entitled "Together," depicts two children from different backgrounds embracing each other under a warm summer sky and trees.

Chan's piece, entitled "Ultraviolet," depicts a person's uncertain searching expression through the usage of thunderous reds and purples.

Each artist was presented with a certificate of participation and had the opportunity to meet Sherrill.

“We are all so incredibly proud of Willy and Vincent," Chatham High School Art teacher Eric Hreha said. "As they have shown such an extraordinary dedication to their craft."
