Chatham Students Recognized At Teen Arts Festival
Art Department and students earn top honors at Morris County festival.
CHATHAM, NJ - With more than 200 pieces of artwork as competition, 14 Chatham High School art students took top honors at the awards reception held at County College of Morris on May 16 for the annual Morris County Teen Arts Festival.
Chatham High School Senior, Madi Blanchard, won the title of Overall Best in Show with her piece "Portrait Triptych." Along with these honors, Blanchard received a $50 gift card, the coveted cover of all of next year's promotional materials for the Teen Arts Festival, and the opportunity to show her work at the NJ State Teen Arts Festival exhibit in Ocean County.

At a luncheon and awards ceremony for the teachers, CHS art educators Kiera Spadaro, Eric Hreha and Candace Hull accepted a first place trophy on behalf of CHS for the top ribboning school in Morris County. This marks over ten straight years of top five finishes for the Chatham High School art department.

More than ten schools submitted their top twenty pieces of student artwork, selected by their visual arts teachers, for this adjudicated show.
CCM faculty served as judges to award ten gold "Best in Show" ribbons, twenty-five blue "High Distinction" ribbons and fifty red "Distinction" ribbons.
Forty CHS students attended the Teen Arts Festival field trip, at which they were able to sit in with CCM professors for a variety of workshops. The experiences ranged from ceramic bowl making, to watercolor, to using the sewing studio, to figure drawing with a live model.
