The Chatham Township Committee is working with the Jersey Battered Women's Service (JBWS) to put on the presentation, in correlation with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month this Oct. The presentation will help raise awareness of domestic violence, and will outline how to prevent this kind of abuse.

Regina Braham, the director of community relations for JBWS, will speak at the event.

“To prevent domestic violence, we need to create a community-wide culture that does not tolerate family or partner violence," Braham said, according to the Chatham Courier.

Braham will discuss how Chatham residents can help deter domestic violence. So far, Chatham Police Department has established a Crisis Response Team to help domestic violence issues, and JBWS has started a No2DatingAbuse program at the Chatham High school.
