Chatham's U11A Summer Baseball Team reached the championship game of the Ridge Tournament in Basking Ridge on Sunday. The team registered wins over Bayonne, Millburn and Westfield in pool play and defeated Basking Ridge in the semi-finals. The Cougars fell to Roxbury in a nail-biter for the championship. Chatham took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the 4th and Roxbury hit 2 solo home runs to go up 3-2. Roxbury then hit a grand slam in the 5th to break the game open.
Chatham is playing some great team baseball and peaking at the right time as they enter the final stretch of the season. They posted a 9-4 record in the North Jersey All-Star League and were division champs for the regular season. The team hosts a first-round league playoff game on Wednesday night at Shunpike Field.
