Chris Christie Was Really, Really Unhappy About Trump VP Snub: Reports
Yes, Gov. Chris Christie really wanted to be vice president of the United States. And he let Donald Trump's team know it, reports say.

Yes, we know Gov. Chris Christie said he was really happy about returning to work in the Garden State.
And, yes, he really wanted to be president.
But what Christie really, really wanted to be was vice president of the United States. And he let Donald Trump's team know it, reports say.

And when he was passed over, he let the team know that he was really, really not happy about it.
The Weekly Standard told the story over the weekend, describing what one reporter overheard Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort say about Christie's state of mind. John McCormack described it thusly:

While minding my own business at the Starbucks inside the Westin hotel this morning, I saw a man engage Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort in conversation about the VP selection process. The man, whom I couldn't identify, suggested that Pence was a smart pick and Gingrich would've been a disaster. "Christie was livid, right?" the man said at one point. "Yeah," Manafort replied.
It signaled what was the culmination of a six-month courtship between Christie and the presumptive Republican nominee, who have been friends for nearly two decades but have recently become strong political allies.
Christie was the first "mainstream" establishment Republican to endorse Trump, and he has been at Trump's side on many occasions while on the campaign trail — a relationship that has been widely mocked in social media (see below).
CNN reported last week that Trump's "gut" was with Christie, but the billionaire's family was with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence — particularly Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, whose father, Charles, was sent to prison after Christie's successful prosecution as U.S. attorney nearly a decade ago.
The worst came on Thursday, when Christie apparently found out that he would not be the VP nominee, despite a last-minute push to get Trump to change his mind. Word came just as long-time Christie confidant David Samson pleaded guilty to demanding a bribe while he was chairman of the Port Authority.
Another former Christie cabinet member, Jamie Fox, pleaded guilty for arranging and forcing United Airlines to arrange a special "chairman's flight" to transport Samson back and forth to his second home in South Carolina.
Even so, Christie offered supportive words for Trump on Monday as the Republican Convention in Cleveland began, leading New Jersey's delegation and scolding Republicans who didn't support the presumptive nominee, according to northjersey.com.
But since Thursday, social media has been relentless in its pointed view of the VP snub:
