CHS To Host 60 Authors at "Nerd Camp" in May
Chatham High School will host an "unconference" focused on literacy for New Jersey educators.

Chatham High School will host Nerd Camp from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday May 20th. Nerd Camp NJ is an EdCamp "unconference" with an exclusive focus on literacy instruction. It appears with the hashtag #nErDCampNJ as a means of emphasizing the capitals E & D for EdCamp. All attendees come to Nerd Camp to present and attend workshops for FREE.
Over 60 authors will be participating in the author meet and greet at CHS on May 20th from 12:30pm until 2:00pm. The authors will spend the morning presenting panels and workshops to K-12 teachers, administrators, librarians and pre-service teachers from the New Jersey area, and they'll be available to the entire community for book signings in the afternoon. Local independent booksellers have been informed, and Barnes and Noble in Morris Plains will be holding an in-store book fair the week before on Saturday 5/13 so young readers can purchase books prior to the day of the signing. Staff from The Curious Reader bookstore will be selling books in the CHS library the day of the event.
Below are digital flyers listing all the authors and the books that will be sold:

In addition, ESPN reporter, author and former English teacher Tom Rinaldi will be speaking to teachers in the morning before workshops begin. Penguin Random House has been kind enough to donate copies of his book, The Red Bandanna, to all of the secondary teachers, librarians and administrators attending the conference. Rinaldi will sign copies of his book for the educators in attendance that morning.

Chatham High School English teacher Oona Abrams has spearheaded the organizational planning for this event. CHS students submitted designs for the logo, and Tyler Campbell's design was selected (pictured above).
