Concert to Kick Off Township Summer Series
A battle of the bands will be held tomorrow night at the township municipal building.

It's that time of year again—the township's annual summer series kicks off Tuesday night. And this year, organizers have planned something exciting and new.
A battle of the bands will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Mountainview Field, which is behind the township municipal building on Meyersville Road.
It features local acts. GoodBye Friday will go on first at 6:30 p.m. They will be followed by 543 at 7 p.m., Maximum Wage at 7:30 p.m. and The Cosmic Yams at 8 p.m.

This is the first year the summer series will feature such a competition. Judges will pick a winner at the end of the contest.
"I love doing it," said event organizer Anna Riker of the summer series. "I love doing something different."

The battle of the bands is the first of four events during the series. On July 20, the movie "Up" will be shown at the field. And on July 27, the fourth annual car show will take place.
"We get a lot of neat cars every year," Riker said.
A final movie, "G-Force," will be shown Sept. 10.
Tuesday's battle of the bands could be moved indoors to the township's gymnasium if it rains. Riker said she will make that judgment call early tomorrow afternoon, and Patch will let you know as soon as it gets word of the decision.
