Fritts Helps Chatham Defeat Rival Madison
Cougars score five in first quarter and hold on for victory, stopping Dodger comeback.
The boys lacrosse team traveled to neighbor and rival Madison Thursday afternoon for a regular season game. Undefeated Chatham continued their winning ways beating Madison 8-4.
IN SHORT
The Chatham Cougars came roaring out to a 5-0 lead in the first period and looked like they would cruise through the game with little to impede their attack. In the second period, though, Madison changed their defense from man-to-man to a zone and shut Chatham down.

COACH'S TAKE
"We got impatient a little bit. We got the five goals in the first quarter and ,in the second quarter, their goalie came up with a couple of good saves and we started pressing. We let the momentum go in a big rivalry game and that's what you've got. It was a dogfight down the stretch. I think they played hard, they wanted the game. And we didn't do enough to put it away." —Chatham head coach Anthony Calandra
THEY SAID IT
"It is a rivalry game, so we came out really hot to start because we really wanted it. But after the first quarter, we just didn't play our game at all. I would say that we the worse game we played yet. As seniors, we just have to make sure it never happens again." —Chatham goalie Corey Fritts
A LOOK AHEAD
"We lost a starting defenseman, two attackmen and a midfielder. Jack Isenreich is at Michigan, John Radigan is at Yale and Nick Guida is at Fairfield. This season, we are very deep. We have a lot of kids back from last year's team with the addition of some sophomores the came up as well. We are just trying to get better every day and just try to keep going." —Calandra
