Cougars Fall to Glen Rock

The 2011 state champions end their season

The hockey team fell to Glen Rock in the opening round of the NJSIAA tournament Thursday.

Glen Rock scored in the first period, but Chatham came back in the second period with a goal by Jason Pitoynak, assisted by Brian Leonard, followed five minutes later by a goal from Trip Burke, assisted by Teddy Simson and William Barnett.

Before the end of the second period, however, Glen Rock came back with two more goals and followed up with a fourth goal in the third quarter. Goalie CJ Albanese made 12 saves.

With the 4-2 loss, the team now ends their season with a 14-1-10 record.

The following games are scheduled for Friday, depending on weather and facility condition and availability:

  • The girls basketball team competes against Warren Hills at 7 p.m. at Chatham High in the NJSIAA semifinals.

The following games are scheduled for Saturday, depending on weather and facility condition and availability:

  • Members of the swim team travel to the NJSIAA Swimming Meet of Champions at Gloucester County Institute of Technology.

The next Booster Club meeting will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Chatham High Media Center.
