Davies' Swing, Fazio's Pitching Lead Chatham in Morris County Tournament

Davies' hit breaks scoreless tie, Fazio strikes out eight as Cougars beat Montville in MCT.

The No. 5-seeded softball team defeated No. 4 Montville 2-0 in a tight matchup Saturday in the Morris County Tournament quarterfinals in Montville.

IN SHORT
The Cougars’ Amanda Fazio pitched a one-hit shut out. Capitalizing on costly Montville errors, the Cougars were able to rally and score two hard-earned runs to advance in the Morris County Tournament.

COUGAR OF THE GAME

With two outs in the top of the seventh and the game scoreless, Davies hit a perfectly placed single that dropped into shallow right field to send the first Chatham run in and swing the momentum for the entire team.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Amanda Fazio (Chatham) – On the mound Fazio pitched seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.

Kelly Winans (Chatham) – Winans was flawless at first base preventing many players from reaching base with saving stretches.   

McCall Moore (Chatham) – Moore went 2-for-3 at the plate and hit a long single to drive a run in.
