For the first time, Chatham United Methodist Church is opening its popular Alternative Gifts Boutique to the community. At this annual event, you'll find holiday gifts that give twice: once to your recipient, and once to not-for-profit organizations that receive the proceeds.
You can choose from necklaces, bracelets, and baskets made by Ugandan women (90% of the purchase price goes back to them); pins by Lucinda; handknitted hats, gloves, scarves, and more; and Equal Exchange products (fair trade coffee, tea, and chocolate) sold to you at cost. Or re-imagine what gift giving means by donating in your gift recipient's name; you'll receive a card to present to them, showing the good their gift is doing. Your gifts will benefit Heifer International, Hope of Children & Women (Uganda), Our Place (Morristown), the Roots and Wings Foundation (helping NJ kids transitioning out of foster care), and CUMAC (Paterson), among others.
This year's Alternative Gifts Boutique will be held Sunday, December 4, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Chatham United Methodist Church (across from the CVS Plaza). You’ll also be able to buy refreshments—coffee, tea, juice, and a variety of baked goods—to further support these organizations. So bring your appetite, along with your holiday gift list!
