ART LEAGUE WORKSHOP OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

ART LEAGUE WORKSHOP OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

The Art League of the Chathams is very pleased to announce another
exciting workshop to be held May 26th at 11am, open to the public.
Bring 2 pieces of your own artwork and receive constructive criticism
from an expert professional painter, Nanci France-Vaz.    This is a
rare opportunity to get expert advice in how to paint the finishing
touches on your artwork!

Nanci  France-Vaz received her Bachelor of Fine Arts  at the
prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York City.  She studied
classical drawing and painting under the tutelage of John Frederick
Murray and Marvin Mattelson. Nanci continued her studies with Nelson
Shanks, Dan Thompson, Michael Grimaldi, and privately with Paul W.
McCormack. Ms. France has won numerous awards and was on the front
page in the Arts section of the Greenwich Post. The article written
was for "Arts on the Avenue" 2005. Nanci France-Vaz is a member of the
Portrait Society of America, the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club,
the Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists, Audobon Artists, and
Allied Artists of America. She has won numerous awards and has done
commissions of world renowned chef and owner Geoffrey Zakarian of
"Town", Dr. Cynthia Magro of NY Presbyterian/Cornell, Dr. Jay Okin of
Central Park West, and Sting . Examples of her work are on her website
www.nancifrance-vaz.com.

For the past several years, she has been teaching workshops privately
in her studio. Her interest lies in teaching the student what was
imparted from her teachers. Because of the spectrum from Reilly to
Hensche methods, she has developed a unique style. Many students' work
start to appear as a clone of their teachers work and she feels every
artist should have their own technique that makes their art stand out
from the others. The workshops will not have more than 4-6 students
and are geared for all levels of portrait/figure/still life. They run
every 12 weeks and Nanci will be doing a landscape workshop this
summer in Atlantic Highlands, a color theory workshop that addresses
believable human flesh tones, and use of photography and lighting. Her
palette is representational of the Boston School of color. To inquire
about workshops and dates, please contact her at 646 662 5960 or email
nancifrance@comcast.net.

To register for the free May 26 workshop, please rsvp to Philla
Barkhorn at pbarkhorn@verizon.net.   The workshop is presented to the
public by the Art League of the Chathams, and is held at the Community
Room at the Chatham Township Municipal Building.
The Art  League of the Chathams is a non-profit organization with the
