Since the Hausmann Quartet's formation in the summer of 2004 at LyricaFest in New Jersey, they have been acquiring a reputation as one of the great young quartets performing today. Praised for their charismatic playing and "marvelously rich tone", the group is the 2010-2012 Joseph Fisch/Joyce Axelrod Resident String Quartet at San Diego State University. Recent collaborators include Jeremy Denk, Kim Kashkashian, and Paul Katz.

The Hausmann Quartet will also perform the winning piece of Lyrica’s Fourth Annual Young Composers Competition, Saxifrage, by Alex Weiser. Mr. Weiser is a recent graduate of Yale University, where the composer’s works were frequently performed by many of the school's premier ensembles.
Lyrica is very happy to collaborate with SCEEP in presenting the Hausmann Quartet in a special performance for Newark grade-school students on Saturday, February 4th. Last year’s event brought a full program of music to over fifty children, and Lyrica is thrilled to build on that success. The Hausmann Quartet has shown deep dedication to outreach and music education, and will provide SCEEP’s participants with a first class introduction to chamber music.
First appearing in recital at the Bard Festival in 1994, pianist David Kaplan has been lauded by The New York Times for “striking imagination and creativity.” He has made concerto, recital and chamber music appearances at Mostly Mozart, Tanglewood, Ravinia, Seattle, and Chamber Music Northwest festivals. As a member of Carnegie Hall’s young artist troupe, the Ensemble ACJW, Kaplan performs regularly in New York’s most exciting venues, from Zankel Hall to Le Poisson Rouge.
The 25th Anniversary’s final concert will take place on April 22nd, featuring the Lyrica Chamber Orchestra with the Kent Place Chamber Singers.
