Former Chatham Mayor: 'Couldn't Ask For Better Candidate' in Patrick Carroll

Longtime resident and former official endorses newcomer for council seat.

Dear Editor:

As a former Councilman and Mayor of Chatham Borough, I know that while Chatham has some of the best municipal employees in the state, in order for a town to thrive, it must rely on volunteers to fill in the gaps and augment the services that our tax dollars provide. Whenever I meet someone new to our community, I urge them to get involved and make a difference. I never got a chance to say that to Patrick Carroll, because by the time I met him he was already a leader with the Borough Shade Tree Commission.

Pat moved to Chatham in 2011 and is married with two children. He moved here to run the marketing department for a pharmaceutical company in Florham Park but chose Chatham as his home for safe, tight knit community and of course our great school system.

Pat got involved right away in Chatham life by joining the Shade Tree Commission; first as an alternate, then member, now Chairman. Over the past two years I have had the opportunity to see Pat in action first hand while he was managing the tree plantings in town. He is thoughtful, open to feedback, communicates well and does what he says he’s going to do.

We need more people like Pat involved in our community. That’s why I am pleased to learn that he decided to run for Borough Council. With his MBA, 20+ of work experience and dedication to volunteering, we couldn’t ask for a better candidate to guide our community for the next three years.

That is why I am endorsing and voting for Patrick Carroll on June 2nd.
