Chatham Advances to MCT Girls Lacrosse Championship
Leto's four goals, one assist and Hyde's go-ahead tally propels Cougars over Mountain Lakes.
Jaclyn Leto scored four goals and had an assist, while Liz Hyde netted the game-winner as the third-seeded Chatham High girls lacrosse team defeated No. 2 Mountain Lakes Saturday in the Morris County Tournament semifinals.
The Cougars advance to face top-seeded Mendham in Wednesday night's championship game in Roxbury.

Mountain Lakes was in control of the game early, keeping control of the ball and making quick scores. But by the end of the first half, the Cougars clawed their way back into the game, ending the half at 4-4. In the second half, Mountain Lakes scored first but then Chatham took control of the game. With just under 18 minutes left in the game, Leto scored to tie the game again at 5 each. Four minutes later she scored again to give Chatham the lead, 6-5. At 10:37, Hyde scored what turned out to be the winning goal on a free position shot. At 5:48, Mountain Lakes scored again but then the Cougar offense took control of the ball for the rest of the game.

Coach Deb Marriott gave credit to her entire team. “I don’t think I could single anyone out. They all came together in the end,” she said.

Jaclyn Leto—scored four of Chatham’s seven goals with one assist.
Hannah Reader had eight saves for the Cougars.

“We really persevered through it all. We were a little sloppy at times but they played as a team and they always had each other’s back. We weren’t playing our kind of defense in the first half. We made some adjustments at half time and that got us back to where we wanted to be, back to our game plan.” –Marriott
