Girls Lacrosse Outdraws Jefferson, 16-2
The team puts forth a strong all-around effort to emerge victorious.

The Chatham girls' lacrosse team outfought the Jefferson Falcons during a 16-2 victory at Haas Field on Tuesday.
The Cougars continued with yet another fast start, scoring off of the opening draw on a quick transition capped off by a goal from senior Meghan Murray. The Cougars would add two more before the opening minute would culminate.
Even though the team beat Pope John Paul XXIII yesterday, 17-6, Head Coach Deb Marriott wasn't pleased with her team's defense, among other things, but her tone changed today.

"I think we were more ready for this game," said Marriott. "[The team] was more enthusiastic and their intensity was much higher."
Murray agreed.

"We played lackadaisical yesterday, so we came out more focused and played for ourselves," she said.
The Cougars controlled the game from start to finish, winning all twelve draws in the first half.
Dominating the opening draws allowed for the Cougars to efficiently set up their attack, gain the zone and create good scoring opportunities.
"I think draws are the most important element of the game," Murray said. "It's about desire and who wants it more."
She finished with three goals and two assists.
Once the Cougars were in possession of the ball, they completed their passes with precision throughout the game.
"Their passes today were much crisper, and we didn't bobble the ball [when we had possession]" said Marriott.
Not to be outdone by Murray, sophomore Kelsey Perselay also scored three goals and two assists. Cat McCutcheon, Jaclyn Leto, and Emma Ehler also checked in with two goals each in Tuesdays' victory. Perselay, McCutcheon and Murray tied for the game lead with two assists.
The Cougars have practice tomorrow as they get ready for what Marriott calls two "big games" coming up at the end of the week against Columbia and Summit.
The Cougar team remains focused on its goals as it continues to improve on its skills.
"We want to keep improving on defense, our shot selection, and working as a team," Murray said.
