JCP&L Helicopter Checking Chatham Power Lines This Week

Utility provider conducting routine maintenance through July 10 above Chatham.

Aerial inspections of power lines in and around Chatham would be done by helicopter this week, as utility provider Jersey Central Power & Light conducts routine maintenance.

The helicopter began patrolling the skies at the start of the week and are expected to conduct the maintenance through Friday, July 10, Chatham Borough announced.

“A black helicopter bearing tail number N5027P will be flying at a speed of about 35-40 MPH above or alongisde the lines, and may circle around for a closer inspection of an area of interest,” the Borough’s website said.

Weather could play a factor and poor conditions may cause rescheduling and/or delays of the inspections.
