Many Happy Returns: Chatham Township Turns 213
We don't think the Township looks a day over 150.

CHATHAM, NJ - Chatham Township was incorporated on Feb. 12, 1806 which makes Tuesday Chatham Township's 213th birthday.
According to officials, Chatham Township was incorporated by an act of the legislature and at the time included the communities of Chatham Borough, Green Village and Bottle Hill, or Madison.
Together the extensive rural areas surrounding these communities were integrated with each community retaining its own distinct existence and identity, officials said.

The settlement of Chatham Township had been established in 1710 as John Day's Bridge and, in 1773 when New Jersey was an English province, adopted the name of Chatham to honor William Pitt, the first Earl of Chatham, a British supporter of the colonial cause, officials said.
We here at Patch say Happy Birthday Chatham Township and wish many happy returns.
