New Police Lieutenant in Chatham Borough

Brian Gibbons had been Chatham Borough's police sergeant and the police department's number two in command since Dec. 7, around the time when former Police Chief John Drake retired and current Police Chief Phillip Crosson was promoted to interim chief.

The interim tag was eventually removed from Crosson's title. And now, Gibbons has proved he deserves to step up as well.

Gibbons was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant at a Borough Council meeting Monday. The promotion will allow him to remain the department's second in command behind Crosson.

In speaking to the council, Gibbons said he enjoyed working under Crosson, and hope to help achieve all of the department's goals.

"I look forward to many more years of productive work," he said.

Gibbons first started with the borough police department in 2002 and was eventually appointed sergeant in 2007.

A resolution passed by the Borough Council says Gibbons "has demonstrated a strong and exemplary understanding of leadership, management and personnel skills."
