Parade, Fireworks to Blast Through Chatham Saturday

61st annual event begins with inspection at borough firehouse.

It seems like each year it gets bigger and better.

And on Saturday, the 61st annual Chatham Fire Department Association’s Fourth of July Celebration will be ready to entertain the masses.

The festivities kickoff at 9:15 a.m. with the flag raising and fire department inspection at the borough firehouse. The parade will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. and start at the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Main Street. The procession will then head down Main Street toward Chatham Middle School.

This year’s parade includes 10 bands, nine fire departments, and plenty of community organizations, totaling more than 60 participants.

Main Street will be closed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the parade will take place rain or shine.

Fireworks will blast off at 9:30 p.m. or dark at Chatham Middle School, but if rain is in the sky, that portion of the day’s events will be moved to Sunday, July 5, at the same time. Gates will open at 7 p.m. with music entertainment from The Bob Campbell Band.
