Property Tax Bills Delayed In Chatham Borough
Chatham's third quarter property tax bills have yet to be mailed due to a delay in the information borough officials require.
CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham Borough homeowners will see a delay in receiving their 2022 tax bill for August, borough officials announced recently.
Because of the delay, the statutory Aug. 1 due date for third-quarter taxes will be extended until Sept. 2, officials said.
"There will be no additional grace period. If payment is received after Sept.2, the interest will be calculated from Aug. 1 to the date payment is received," officials said.

Tax delays have also impacted neighboring Morris County towns, and Madison Borough officials say the delay is due to a wait for the certified rate from Morris County.
The municipal tax rate in the borough increased slightly, from .411 to .421, representing a 1.9 percent increase in taxes, or an increase of $65.37 for a home assessed at $800,000, borough officials said.

The school tax rate edged up as well with a 2 percent tax levy increase. The budget will result in an increase of $18.42 per $100,000 of assessed property value in Chatham Borough for taxpayers.
Borough officials did not specify when bills would be sent, only that they should be received sometime in the first week of August.
