On Tuesday May 16 the St. Patrick School (Chatham) Forensic team took first place in the varsity division hosted by the St. Joseph School (Mendham NJ). St. Patrick School matched their Varsity Team win with individual achievement, taking first, and second and finalist positions in a competitive field. Mary Kate Vowells took first, Molly Farrell took second and Alex Greene placed as a finalist. Maddie Morton and Caroline Reichard also performed admirably for St. Pat’s.
The Junior Varsity Team demonstrated strong performances across the board and will no doubt continue St. Patrick’s strong tradition of forensics success. The St. Patrick School Forensics teams are coached and mentored by faculty members Dr. Janet Gibbs, Mrs. Debra Bruner, and parent coach Mrs. Karen Vowells.
The annual declamation competition attracted teams from St. Joseph School and Assumption School. Declamation is a considered to be a challenging form of speech competition, requiring participants to memorize and present a 3-7 minute speech which is judged on presentation, posture and communication skills.
