Teens Can Volunteer for Library of The Chathams' Summer Reading Club
Volunteer opportunities for teens at the Library of The Chathams

As teens in town begin to make summer plans, one thing they can consider is volunteering to help at the Library of The Chathams’ Summer Reading Club.
Volunteers between grades 6 and 12 can apply (if your child is in fifth grade and will be going into sixth grade this summer, they can apply). Volunteers will work with younger children discussing the books the children read and helping to give out prizes to participants, as well as keeping the children’s room organized and neat.
We will also have a Teen Summer Reading Club for students in grades 6 to 12. This year the rules will change. You can now submit a review of a book you have read in one of the following ways: written review, photo essay, drawing, book trailer, comparison of the book and movie, verbal report to the librarian, or any other media – to earn entries for weekly and grand prize drawings. This year’s grand prize will be an iPad Mini, thanks to a donation from the Woman’s Club of Chatham. The best entries will be displayed in the library or on the library’s website and social media.

Volunteers who are interested can attend one of our volunteer orientations (parents of course also welcome) on Wednesday, June 14 at 4 pm or Saturday, June 17 at 11 am. If you cannot make it to an orientation, stop by the children’s room, call us at 973‑635‑0603, or e‑mail us at chathamkidsroom@gmail.com for more information.
We hope to see you this summer!
