Thanksgiving is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over United States. Muslims living in America also stand side by side with their friends and neighbors during the activities of Thanksgiving Day. They don’t want to miss another chance of paying gratitude to God. Thanking our Creator is daily routine of Muslims’ lives. They pray five times a day and saying thanks to God is included in Islamic prayers.
Some of the other ways in which Muslims pay gratitude to God during the year are financial sacrifice called Zakat (a form of charity), fasting during Ramadhan and traveling to Mecca for Hajj where they sacrifice animals whose meat is distributed among the poor.
We have also planned to celebrate Thanksgiving by cooking good quality food and distributing it among the homeless and needy people. In addition to this, we have collected some gifts and clothes to distribute. It is an effort to show gratitude to God. We believe that one who takes care of the poor and needy will be taken care of by God. In fact, He returns by expanding it many folds.
