Volleyball Team Looks to Recapture Conference Title

OVERVIEW

With a new head coach, fresh sophomore talent and a number of seasoned veterans, the 2011 volleyball team looks forward to more success this season.

LAST SEASON'S RESULTS

Last season the Cougars boasted a 19-7 record and were Northwest Jersey Conference Champions. The Cougars also made an impact on the state level as the runner up in the Group 2 South Jersey Championship.

KEEP YOUR EYE ON

• Lauren Winschuh (Sr. Middle Hitter)—Winschuh was a force in the middle in the 2010 season, who improved each game. Expect her to be the Cougars leading blocker in the middle. For the 2010 season Winschuh received Second Team-All Freedom Division honors.
• Amy Lee (Sr. Libero)—Lee is the Cougars leading passer and led the team with digs in 2010. A defensive specialist, Lee is a consistent server and passer. For the 2010 season Lee received Second Team-All Freedom Division honors.
• Marissa Young (Sr. Outside Hitter) — Young has a strong presence at the service line as well as at the net. Expect Young to be a team leader in kills.

THEY'LL MISS

• Sam Thiel (Outside Hitter)—A 2010 Captain Thiel was a leader on court and earned accolades for her consistent kills and service points. For the 2010 season Thiel received First Team-All Freedom Division honors.
• Liz Mauer (Middle Hitter)—Also a 2010 Captain Maurer will be missed most for her striking kills in the middle. For the 2010 season Mauer received First Team-All Freedom Division honors.

COACH'S TAKE

• “We are a young team, so there is always a learning curve and big shoes to fill. But we have a lot of talent and we are really excited!” said head coach Anna Chesnakova.
