CHATHAM, NJ — A Week at the Library of The Chathams: Monday, August 27 – Sunday, September 2, 2018. (Please note that the library is closed on Sundays through Labor Day weekend).

DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN BORROW… TELESCOPES? When we bought our first Orion StarBlast telescope in 2016, it became so popular that we had to buy another one. The telescopes are going out at a brisk pace and usually require a reservation. For those who have never used a telescope, there will be a program in September where you can learn how to use it.

TENTS? Our most recent acquisition (funded by Friends of the Library) is a pair of 8’x8’ tents. You can check them out for your outdoor party!

MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS? In addition to the full-size electric piano, guitar, trumpet, ukulele and flute, we recently bought a smaller, easier-to-carry piano. Use them for practice or just to figure out which instrument your child wants to play.

AND OTHER “NONTRADITIONAL” ITEMS, such as museum passes, fitbits, and Wi-Fi hotspots? You can check out a lot more than books at your library!

PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
To help children refresh their music skills, Chatham High School student Julia Raskin is conducting August Back to Music Camp, with the help of other young musicians. Their camp last summer was a success, and we are glad to have them back this year.

Are you a member of Chatham’s band or orchestral program? If so, attend one or all four evenings to dust off your instrument and get back into musical shape! Chatham High School mentors will be available for all instruments, so come prepared to have fun! Please sign up separately for each session you would like to attend. The music camp is for kids in grades 4-8.
