A Hudson Shakespeare Company performance, Russian lecture series and Super Smash Brothers are on tap this week.

CHATHAM, NJ - The Hudson Shakespeare Company will present a production of Thomas Kyd’s The Spanish Tragedy, the Russian lecture series continues and the video game club is back with Super Smash Brothers action at the Library of the Chathams this week.

Storytime
Storytime is an 8-week, progressive program for preschoolers and their caregivers.
Registration required
24 months and younger – 9:45 a.m.
4 to 6 years – 10:15 a.m.

Two Chatham High School students will provide homework help for children in Grades K to 5. All subjects welcome.

Read Aloud to Therapy Dogs – 4 to 5 p.m.
Grades K & Up
Sit down and read your favorite book to a gentle and loving therapy dog certified by St. Hubert’s.

Miss Carol introduces basic movement to music in a fun and loving atmosphere.

ESL Lunch Hour – 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
For ESL students. To get even more practice in English conversation, and to get to know your fellow students, bring your own lunch and enjoy it in the company of other students and tutors!

English as a Second Language (ESL) – 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Thursdays, Sept. 13 through Nov. 1
Registration required
This 8-week series of classes is for everyone who wants to improve their English language skills. Students are divided into small groups by skill level. Books and other learning materials will be provided. The program is free – all you need is a commitment to learn!

FRIDAY, OCT. 19
CALL: The History and Politics of Russia
Friday, Oct. 19 – 1 p.m.
Dr. Roy Licklider, Professor of Political Science at Rutgers University with a Ph.D. in International Relations from Yale, will present a two-part lecture series on the history, culture and politics of Russia. The first lecture will discuss the history and culture of Russia; the second will discuss current events and issues involving Russia and the US, and Russia’s relationship with other countries. This is a free CALL series. Pre-registration is requested.

Italian Conversation Group – 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Luciana Santoriello and other fluent speakers moderate this Italian discussion group and help to get a conversation going.

Performance of The Spanish Tragedy by the Hudson Shakespeare Company – 2 p.m.
Jon Ciccarelli, Artistic Director of the Hudson Shakespeare Company, will present a production of Thomas Kyd’s The Spanish Tragedy. The play features supernatural happenings and a Tarantino-style revenge story set in Gothic Spain.
