'What My Local Government Does Best': Write An Essay, Win A Scholarship
Chatham Borough, Township students have chance to win $1,000 for college tuition.

CHATHAM, N.J. – Your mayor wants to know what the local government does best, and there may be some money it for your college career.
Chatham Borough Mayor Bruce Harris and Chatham Township Mayor Curt Ritter have teamed up with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities to participate in a statewide scholarship competition for New Jersey high school juniors and seniors who plan to continue their education after high school.
Three $1,000 scholarships will be offered through the Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition. The statewide competition centers on the theme “What My Municipal Government Does Best” and asks students to “advance the virtues of elected and volunteer members of municipal government,” the details stated.

Applicants must complete a brief application and a 500-word essay on the topic by Thursday, March 10, 2016. Borough residents should submit their applications and essays to Mayor Bruce Harris at Chatham Borough Hall, 54 Fairmount Avenue, or by emailing to mayor@chathamborough.org.
Township residents should submit theirs to Mayor Curt Ritter at the Chatham Township Municipal Building, 58 Meyersville Road, or by emailing mayor@chathamtownship-nj.gov.
