2 More Coronavirus Deaths Reported In Cherry Hill

Two more Cherry Hill residents died after testing positive for the coronavirus. New nursing home numbers were also released on Wednesday.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Two more Cherry Hill residents have died after testing positive for the coronavirus, Camden County officials announced on Wednesday.

A man in his 60s and a woman in his 80s were among nine new Camden County deaths that were announced on Wednesday.

Three more Cherry Hill residents also tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in Cherry Hill to 850 with 95 deaths. Trace investigations are underway in all new cases.

The new Cherry Hill cases involved a man in his 30s, a woman in her 40s and a boy older than 10. They were among 54 new cases of the coronavirus that were announced countywide on Wednesday. There are now 6,429 cases of the coronavirus in Camden County with 313 confirmed deaths.

According to numbers released by the state on Wednesday, 535 cases have been tied to the township’s nursing homes, with 103 confirmed deaths.

Out of the nursing home cases, 411 cases were confirmed among residents, with 100 confirmed deaths. The other 124 cases were reported among staff members, with three confirmed deaths.

Countywide, there are 1,092 confirmed cases of coronavirus among nursing home residents and 358 among nursing home staffs. There have been 232 fatalities reported in county nursing homes.

“It is with great sadness that we announce nine additional deaths caused by COVID-19 today. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those impacted by this virus and their families, and we are wishing a fast and full recovery to everyone who has tested positive,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. said. “We are continuing to see improvements in our overall growth rate, and the county’s doubling rate has stayed above 30 days for several weeks. These encouraging developments are due entirely to the hard work and dedication of our residents. If we continue to social distance, wear a mask, and avoid crowded spaces, we will continue to see the number of new cases in Camden County decrease.”

  • A Cherry Hill man in his 60s;
  • Two Voorhees women in their 80s;
  • A Collingswood man in his 80s;
  • A Haddonfield woman in her 90s;
  • A Chesilhurst man in his 70s;
  • A Laurel Springs man in his 60s;
  • A Cherry Hill woman in her 80s; and
  • A Lindenwold man in his 70s.
