2 Swim Clubs Close In Cherry Hill Over Coronavirus Fears

The clubs closed after outbreaks in several New Jersey towns, all involving swimming areas.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Two swim clubs in Cherry Hill closed for cleanup because of coronavirus concerns. An employee at the Cherry Valley Swim Club tested positive for COVID-19, while Covered Bridge identified a case in their swim club.

Cherry Valley closed Wednesday and reopened at 3 p.m. Thursday. The employee was exposed to the virus outside out the club "as far as we know," announced Club President Hubie Manns and the CVSC board members. Other employees were awaiting test results when they made the announcement Wednesday, and they adjusted work scheduled accordingly.

Cherry Valley "voluntarily closed" after the Camden County Health Department "conducted an investigation (Wednesday) and found management unknowing of the NJDOH (New Jersey Department of Health Pool COVID guidelines," said county spokesperson Dan Keashen.

Covered Bridge will remain closed through Sunday for sanitization.

"Our decision to close longer than the Dept. of Health recommends was made again to exercise an abundance of caution," the club said in a statement. "Our commitment as volunteers is to protect our members and staff who are not only part of our community but our family."
