5 More Cherry Hill Residents Die Due To Coronavirus

As of Monday, Cherry Hill has had the second highest number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, with 4,098.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Five more Cherry Hill residents have died after testing positive for the coronavirus, Camden County officials announced.

They were among 21 new deaths reported countywide from Jan. 16-18. The county also reported 777 new cases for that period, including 81 from Cherry Hill. On Tuesday, the county reported another 109 new cases, including eight in Cherry Hill.

As of Tuesday, 33,970 Camden County residents have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 854 have died since the pandemic began. Cherry Hill has had the second highest number of cases, with 4,098. Camden has had 7,468 since the pandemic began. Gloucester Township is third with 3,927.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends, and loved ones of 21 additional victims lost to this terrible disease,” Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “None of us could have imagined the toll this pandemic would take on our community one year ago. There is no longer a day that passes when I don’t think of those within our community who have had to endure tragedy amidst all the other uncertainty brought upon us in the last 10 months. We must all continue to fight this disease with every effort we can give to ensure that no further loss of life occurs.”

The Cherry Hill deaths included two men in their 80s, a woman in her 80s, a woman in her 90s and a man in his 90s. The following information is known about the other deaths reported in Camden County over this period:

  • A Voorhees man in his 80s;
  • A Lawnside man in his 90s;
  • A Stratford woman in her 70s;
  • A Pine Hill woman in her 80s;
  • A Stratford man in his 60s;
  • A Winslow man in his 80s;
  • A Haddon Township woman in her 90s;
  • A Winslow woman in her 60s;
  • A Runnemede man in his 70s;
  • A Winslow man in his 60s;
  • A Pennsauken man in his 70s;
  • A Camden man in his 60s;
  • A Mount Ephraim man in his 70s;
  • A Lawnside man in his 70s;
  • A Winslow man in his 90s; and
  • A Gloucester City man in his 60s.

The Camden County Department of Health also announced that 2,162 residents and 1,177 staff members at the county's 56 long-term care facilities have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began. Since then, 425 residents and three staff members have died.
