📰 News we're reading

• New Jersey's All-Star student journalists (njea.org) — Cherry Hill East students are at the center of New Jersey’s inaugural Journalism All-Star Team, recognized for real-time reporting during a school evacuation and for tackling issues like grading policies and take-home tests. The story also spotlights other standout student journalists statewide and explains how New Jersey’s student press freedom law empowers teens to cover meaningful, sometimes controversial topics.

• Mainland rallies to stun No. 19 Cherry Hill West in SJG3 quarters (nj.com subscription) — Cherry Hill West’s girls lacrosse team saw its season end at home in a heartbreaking 10-9 playoff loss to Mainland, decided by a goal with four seconds left. • Protesters call on N.J. Gov. Sherrill to stop violence at Delaney Hall in Newark (whyy.org) — Cherry Hill residents are part of the New Jersey audience watching protests grow over Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s handling of unrest at Delaney Hall, a federal immigrant detention center in Newark. Demonstrators in Trenton accuse her of enabling police violence against protesters and ignoring detainees’ claims of inhumane conditions, while legal experts note her limited authority over the federal facility.
