Author of 'How to Murder Your Husband' Arrested on Murder Charges

'How to Murder Your Husband' author Nancy Crampton-Brophy is now facing murder charges for murdering her husband.

The first thing any literary teacher will advise you on is that, when you sit down to write, you should write about what you know. It was the father of American literature, Mark Twain who spoke these iconic words and it's advice that writers of countless generations have been putting into practice. For Oregon-based writer Nancy Crampton-Brophy, 68, she did just that and was arrested on suspected murder chargers after penning an article entitled, How to Murder Your Husband back in 2011. The arrest took place September 5, 2018, just three months shy of her husband's passing.

Daniel Brophy, a chef with the Oregon Culinary Institute had been working with the Portland-based company for a decade when he was gunned down on the morning of June 2nd, 2018. While at the time, police found no evidence of suspect, things have certainly took an interesting turn. The suspect had been married to Brophy for 27-years, and relatives of Crampton-Brophy state they are stunned, citing disbelief that their 68-year old matriarch is capable of committing such a thing. Crampton-Brophy is cited as describing her husband as a man who knew what he wanted out of life and loved doing it - a phrase that lends a hand to suspicion as the case will undoubtedly draw scrutiny from everyone watching it unfold.

Neighbors of Crampton-Brophy recall her urge to move somewhere new, stating that "her husband's side of the bedroom was haunting her."

The essay, How to Murder Your Husband detailed a dark and ominous subject matter that would make O.J. Simpson blush and left audiences with a chilling line synonymous to something you'd find on a re-run of Dexter. Crampton wrote, "What if killing didn't produce the right results? Would they do it again? Could they do it again? What if they liked it?"

I suspect the movie rights for the Lifetime Original feature will be in development soon.
