Murder Charge For Boy, 14, In Slaying Of Camden County Teen: Officials

Officials arrested and charged a 14-year-old with the death of another 14-year-old boy who had been attending a birthday party.

CAMDEN, NJ — A 14-year-old boy faces first-degree murder charges in the shooting death of another teen boy from Lindenwold after a birthday party, Camden County officials said.

Officials arrested the defendant in Camden on Tuesday "after an extensive investigation," said Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAuley and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez. Officials said Allen had been at the Elks Lodge on Mt. Ephraim Avenue for a birthday party.

Camden County Police got a report of gunshots fired at 9:32 p.m. that Saturday in the 1800 block of Mt. Ephraim Avenue, officials said. They found Allen with a gunshot wound.

First responders took Allen to Cooper University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:04 p.m., officials said.

The defendant, of Camden, is being held at the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center pending a court hearing.
