Road Reopens After School Bus With Children Overturns On Turnpike

BREAKING: The passengers were from the Plainsfield Boys and Girls Club and were on their way to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A school bus with children on board overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike near Cherry Hill Friday morning, according to New Jersey State Police.

The accident occurred in the southbound lanes, north of the exit for Cherry Hill at about 11:42 a.m. The right lane was blocked, but has since reopened.

There were a total of 25 passengers on the bus, including four adults and 21 children. The children ranged in age from 9-15 years old, police said. Two adults and 16 children were taken to Cooper Medical Center in Camden with minor, non life-threatening injuries, police said.

The passengers were from the Plainfield Township Boys and Girls Club. They were on their way to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, police said.

In the video below posted by CBS 3, it appears as though the bus left the road completely, and came to rest near a wooded area.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
